Forgive Yourself

Many people struggle with the shame of sins from the past. 1 John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness." We do not have to live in fear that something we've done is unforgivable. Once we have repented and turned from sin, God is faithful to forgive us. We can leave the past in the past.

The truth is that none of us can earn God's love.  There is nothing you can do or undo to make God love you any less or more. This is why God sent His only son Jesus to die on the cross to pay our debts and free us from our sin. His love for us is deeper than we could ever comprehend. He wants to love, accept, and forgive us when we turn to Him. Isaiah 30:18, "Therefore the LORD longs to be gracious to you, And therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the LORD is a God of justice; How blessed are all those who long for Him."Shame often prevents us from intimacy with God because we feel unworthy and therefore distant from Him.

Satan does not want us to feel like we can ever be in right standing with God.  Don't waste another day condemning yourself for sins of yesterday when God has already forgiven you. Psalms 103:12, "As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us."Remaining in bondage over past sin is sin in itself. Trust the truth of God's word that the death of Jesus Christ was enough to free you from sin so you can move forward and become everything He has created you to be.
